We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join DKS Associates Pty Ltd, trading as Carports Factory Outlet.
Working on a diverse range of residential and commercial projects, you'll prepare accurate cost estimates, quotations, and project budgets for custom-built steel carports and outdoor structures — working closely with customers, suppliers, and installation contractors.
From interpreting architectural and engineering drawings to analysing project costs and coordinating procurement, you'll contribute to the commercial success of the business while working in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Strong Estimator, Sharp Eye for Detail
The successful applicant will have strong construction estimating experience, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to accurately interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Experience in residential or light structural construction — including steel carports or outdoor structures — will be highly regarded.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, quotations, and project budgets based on client requirements, drawings, and specifications
- Interpret architectural, engineering, and construction drawings to determine project scope and material requirements
- Calculate material quantities, labour costs, equipment, and overheads for residential and commercial steel structure projects
- Obtain, review, and negotiate supplier and installation contractor quotations to achieve competitive pricing
- Liaise directly with customers to clarify requirements, refine quotations, and provide technical guidance
- Prepare pricing schedules and supporting project documentation
- Monitor project costs and analyse variations between estimated and actual costs
- Ensure estimating activities comply with Australian building codes, AS/NZS 1170 wind rating standards, and industry regulations
- Maintain and update pricing databases, cost-monitoring systems, and quotation records
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and compliance standards
- Assist with procurement planning and material scheduling to support project timelines
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and commercial performance
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or higher qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building, or a related discipline
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience as a Construction Estimator or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of Australian construction methods, materials, and estimating practices
- Experience interpreting architectural, engineering, and structural drawings
- Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and project management tools
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple quotations and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and customer management skills
- Knowledge of Australian building codes, AS/NZS 1170 regulations, and WHS requirements
- Experience in residential, commercial, or light steel construction projects is highly regarded
